Debby Kalk, Cortex Interactive

Debby Kalk Debby Kalk is an instructional designer, project manager, and e-learning consultant with two decades of experience producing interactive, video, and classroom-based learning programs. She has developed training and customer education programs for companies such as USAA Insurance, Dell Computer, and Verizon Wireless. As co-founder and CEO of Cortex Interactive, she built a nationally-recognized, pioneering multimedia company that developed award-winning educational products for publishers such as Pearson, McGraw-Hill, and Harcourt. She is co-author of the textbook, Real World Instructional Design, published in 2005 by Wadsworth College Publishers, a unit of Thomson Learning. She has a BA in History, a BS in Radio-Television-Film, an MA in Instructional Technology, and is currently working on a PhD, all from the University of Texas at Austin.

 

Hiram Kuykendall, CTO, MicroAssist, Inc.

Hiram Kuykendall Hiram Kuykendall is a technical leader with over fifteen years of solid real world experience in application, infrastructure design, and E-Learning development. His specialties include software development management, database administration and system engineering. Mr. Kuykendall manages the development teams for numerous E-Learning sites both for the State of Texas and the private sector. Mr. Kuykendall has extensive experience dealing with accessibility issues from managerial and practical levels. Prior to joining MicroAssist in 1995, he accumulated extensive experience working for various Texas state agencies as well as the private sector. Mr. Kuykendall received his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Microsoft Certified Professional.

Online Project Management Systems

WHO: John Shaffer, with Deaton Bednar

Do you or your company need to share project information collaboratively? Do you have dispersed project teams or people working remotely?  Do multiple  people need to be able to track project progress and see the same picture?   If any of these scenarios are relevant to you, online project management software may be essential to your success.

At our June 25th meeting, John Shaffer, an educational technologist with over 12 years experience in Instructional Systems Design and project management, will share his expertise about several popular online project  management systems, including Basecamp and Sharepoint.

Deaton Bednar, Chief Operating Officer of Enspire Learning, will assist John, sharing about the system that is so successful at Enspire, Quickbase.  In addition, as part of our focus on developing a Knowledge Building Community, time will be allocated for participants to share their own experiences with and questions about online project management software.
