What is an Instructional Designer

What is an Instructional Designer?  Why are they so essential to helping create great E-learning.  Debby Kalk, who did our ROI class says

“Compared to the role of the instructor who actually teaches, the instructor would be more like the construction manager, I’m more like the architect, I develop the blueprint.”

To learn more about what an instructional designer does and how they can help improve your e-learning go to the complete interview at MicroAssist E-Learning and Curriculum Development.

iNACOL’s Virtual School Symposium (VSS)

iNACOL’s Virtual School Symposium (VSS) is THE online learning conference!

In November 2009, the VSS will bring together more than 1200 representatives from national, state, district, private and other virtual school programs to attend the industry’s leading event in K-12 online learning. Experts in K-12 virtual education will have robust networking opportunities, learn about the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in e-learning, interact in session presentations, and gain access to the latest research and best practices reports.

The VSS 2009 Request for Proposals (RFP) will be available on February 15, 2009. An email will be sent out to notify all iNACOL members when the RFP is ready. Please check back then to submit your ideas for presentations.

The VSS highlights the cutting-edge work in K-12 online education across the country. It is the only national conference focused solely on K-12 online learning and virtual schools in such a comprehensive way, and the highest-level practitioners and policymakers seeking to develop e-learning programs within educational institutions in the United States, Canada, Mexico and abroad attend it.

To view resources from VSS 2008, visit the VSS 2008 Overlay.

The VSS 2009, which will be held in Austin, TX, will provide an opportunity to highlight online learning software and products for education to e-learning program administrators and virtual school leaders in attendance.

Save-the-date now and mark your calendar for November 15 – 17, 2009 in Austin, TX.
