The Future of E-Learning and Instructional Design

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to predict the future, especially when it involves your career?

Sanjay Nasta, CEO of MicroAssist and founding member of the E-Learning Council, will be participating in a panel discussion on the future of E-Learning along with owners of three other Austin-based E-Learning companies. This is a unique opportunity to hear what industry leaders have to say about current influences on learning such as the use of mobile devices, technology mediated social learning, gaming, simulations, virtual reality, and more. Each panelist will talk about trends in his business and answer questions from the audience. With more than 20 years in the training business, success in hosting E-Learning conferences, and a lifetime of research; Sanjay is an expert on methods to improve workplace performance.

The Future of E-Learning and Instructional Design is sponsored by the Austin chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). This panel discussion is on October 27 from 6:30 – 8:15 PM. Pre-registration is required. Admission is free to Austin ASTD members and $10 for nonmembers. For additional information and to register, visit the Austin ASTD website at: http://www.austinastd.org/en/cev/97

Train for Success with Anders Gronstedt

On October 6, E-Learning Symposium 2011 speaker Anders Gronstedt will kick off the weekly Train for Success sessions in the virtual world, Second Life. Below, Anders shares some exciting upcoming events in the virtual worlds community.

“We’re kicking off the fall Train for Success season next week with an outstanding panel of industry leaders.  The focus of our free weekly meeting series will broaden this fall to include serious games. Mario Herger from SAP and Jerry Bush from Cisco will describe how these industry giants are “gamifying” their products, learning programs, and businesses. You can review the full schedule at our Facebook page (and we’d appreciate a “Like” while you’re there). Some of our meetings will take place at our Second Life island, others in web.alive, a browser-based virtual world that can be accessed from behind most firewalls.

Our first workshop for “Strategic Design of Virtual Worlds Learning Programs” was a big success and we have new sessions scheduled in October and December. Click here to watch a video, read what participants from GE and BP are saying about it, and sign up! The two half-day sessions offer you the unique opportunity to go “in-world,” visiting a leading virtual world facility, meeting industry colleagues, and learning how to develop 3D immersive programs to recruit, onboard, network, inspire, teach, coach, mentor and engage your talent.

I recently penned an article about our virtual rehearsal studio for Avaya’s global sales organization. Our Avaya client will present this case with us at the Professional Sales and Marketing Training Conference 2011 in St. Pete Beach, Florida later this month, and I hope you’ll join us. I’ll also be speaking at the Learning 3.0 Conference in Chicago and E-Learning 2011 Symposium in Houston.

Finally, Chief Learning Officer Magazine interviewed me about the role of social media in learning, and perhaps there are insights in the article that your organization can make use of.”

Meet Anders live in our world at the October E-Learning Symposium in Houston, and see him present “The Five Superpowers of Disruptive Learning and Communications.”
